What we should not forget is that the unpleasant odors coming from the toilet can be caused by several factors. Let’s give a few examples:

  • The condition of the sealing ring between the floor and the toilet bowl. Sometimes the sealing ring is of poor quality, which can eventually tear it and allow odors to escape.
  • In some cases, the float in the water tank is also a possible cause that we should keep in mind.
  • Also check the drain and siphon. Sometimes water can get stuck, making it a source of unpleasant odors.

If you want to prevent unpleasant odors in the bathroom,  it never hurts to inspect the pipes. After that, we can make use of this simple solution to ensure that our home stays clean and hygienic.

How do you make toilet blocks?

Our goal is simple: a cheap and easy to make product that is safe for the environment.

We all know that cleaning products, such as dish soap and soap and the like, generally contain harmful chemicals that are not only bad for the environment, but also for our health.

However, remember to keep these toilet blocks away from children! Children can mistake these blocks for candy or bacon. So it’s best to keep them out of the reach of their little hands.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1½ hydrogen peroxide
  • 2 tablespoons essential tea tree oil
baking soda

Instructions

  • First, find a medium-sized plastic bowl that you can mix the ingredients in.
  • Then put the baking soda in the bowl. Use a fork to break up chunks. The baking soda will help to disinfect the toilet and pipes effectively.
  • Then add the lemon juice. The citric acid in lemons is a powerful cleaner and can be used in many different ways around the home.
  • The next step is simple: add the white wine vinegar. This ingredient is able to disinfect the toilet and neutralize unpleasant odors at the same time.
  • Then we add the hydrogen peroxide. Be careful with this. The idea is to add the hydrogen peroxide slowly ( drop by drop, never all at once). Doing it too quickly can cause a reaction.
  • Finally, we add the essential oil. In this case we use tea tree oil, as this oil has natural disinfectant and antimicrobial properties. However, you can use any essential oil you like.

Once all the ingredients are well mixed together, you have two choices:

1. You can use  a measuring spoon to press the mixture into tablets.

2. Or you can use baking tins to make fun shapes, such as stars and hearts.

Once the tablets have the desired shape, let them dry overnight so that they will also retain this shape.

After drying overnight, the tablets are ready to use.

To use the tablets, simply throw one down the toilet and then flush. You will immediately smell a fresh and pleasant scent as the ingredients begin to work in the pipes. The effect lasts about three days.

Are you ready to give them a try?
